08/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – Some forty media from Europe, including Agence Europe, and from Latin America, will participate, from Tuesday 9 to Friday 12 November, in the 5th Congress of Media Editors, to be held in Madrid and hosted by the Spanish group Vocento. Themes for discussion included freedom of information, risks regarding information in cyberspace and the role and responsibility of the media in dealing with ‘manufactured truth’. The participants will sign the Madrid Declaration which will compile the results and commitments made during the different workshops. After each congress, these declarations are sent to the European Union institutions and Latin American organisations to feed into the debates at the EU-CELAC summits. According to our information, a mini-summit in hybrid format between the EU and Latin American countries holding the presidency of regional organisations is under discussion.
