26/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – The Chair of the European Union Military Committee, General Claudio Graziano, told the Military Committee on Tuesday 26 October that “the military should actively contribute to the process defining the requirements for a rapid response toolbox and making every effort possible to implement a robust Command and Control structure with the aim of maintaining operational superiority”. Moreover, he said that in these “very difficult and challenging times”, the EU had a unique opportunity to become a “credible security provider”. At the Military Committee held on 25–26 October, the Chiefs of Staff of the Member States discussed the following topics: the strategic compass, the review of battle groups, CSDP military operations, the effectiveness of the Union’s training missions, cooperation between the EU and NATO and the impact of climate change on security.
