26/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 26 October, the European Commission launched the second call for projects under the ‘Innovation Fund’, a €1.5 billion programme to support low-carbon technology projects. With revenues provided by the EU’s Emissions Trading System (ETS), the fund will finance the latest technological breakthroughs in renewable energy, energy-intensive industries, energy storage and carbon capture, use and storage, the Commission said. Applicant projects will be assessed on their capacity to avoid greenhouse gas emissions, their innovation potential, their financial and technical maturity as well as their potential for expansion and cost-effectiveness. The call is open to projects from all EU Member States, Iceland and Norway until 3 March 2022. (DG)
