Working time practices changed significantly between 2019 and 2020 in European Union

14/10/2021 (Agence Europe)The rise of part-time work and remote working in conjunction with health measures has changed working time practices, according to a Eurofound report published on Thursday 14 October. With the SURE instrument mitigating the impact of the pandemic on employment, all Member States have implemented a part-time work scheme (albeit with arrangements differing widely from one Member State to another). At the same time, however, many derogations from the working time limit have been introduced at national level. Several Member States, such as Spain and Finland, have introduced a new regulatory framework for home-based remote working. In general, working time has decreased in the Union, with a clear difference between the Western Member States and those in Central and Eastern Europe.
