14/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) and the European Federation of Social Employers announced on Thursday 14 October that they had recently submitted a joint application to the European Commission to establish a European sectoral social dialogue committee for social services. The establishment of such a committee is “urgent”, according to them, particularly in order to respond to the challenges linked to the accelerating labour shortage and ageing. Both organisations cite a study byEurofound, the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions, which shows that they have achieved majority representation. Furthermore, both organisations recognise each other as interlocutors for social dialogue. The joint application includes a joint work programme. (PH)
