11/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – No fewer than 10,000 young people – half of them in person and the other half remotely – set out their priority topics and actions for reforming the European Union at the European Youth Event (EYE2021) held on 8 and 9 October in Strasbourg, the seat of the European Parliament. Among the concrete ideas put forward, participants called for the EU to make recycling easier, to make the ‘Article 7’ procedure on protecting European values and the Rule of law more effective, and to further promote multilingualism. They also added that companies should be held more accountable for their contributions to climate change. The 20 most popular ideas from EYE2021 will be presented at the next plenary session of the Conference on the Future of Europe, to be held in Strasbourg on 22–23 October.
