07/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association, ACEA, asserted that the draft Batteries Regulation (see EUROPE 12738/17) contains several “unintended shortcomings” that could hamper the innovation potential of European car manufacturers, in a position paper published on Wednesday 6 October. Furthermore, the association warns that the “considerable” increase in battery requirements could lead to a sharp rise in the price of electric vehicles and ultimately undermine the effort to electrify mobility.
