01/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – Following a meeting with the Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kamiński on Thursday 30 September, the EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson announced that a European Commission delegation would visit Poland on Wednesday 6 October to continue the dialogue with Warsaw on the influx of migrants at the Polish border with Belarus. The “unprecedented aggression” of the Lukashenko regime against Poland, Latvia and Lithuania, which aims to “destabilise the European Union (...) needs a firm and united response”, she wrote on Twitter. Protecting the EU’s borders must also be done by protecting “our values and EU acquis” and by being “transparent”, she continued, clearly referring to migrants’ rights and press freedom in a Polish region in a state of emergency.
