01/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced the winners of the Lorenzo Natali Media Prize on 30 September. Pari Saikia (Vice Media India) won the Grand prize for her report on the exploitation of Rohingya refugee women. The Europe prize was won by Maria Altimira (Diario Ara) for her work on sexual and other abuse in refugee camps. The Best Emerging Journalist prize went to Srishti Jaswal (Stories Asia), for her investigation into the ignored hunger crisis in India. The European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen, presented the awards to the winners, saying: “The Lorenzo Natali Media Prize recognises three outstanding journalists whose work exemplifies courage, integrity and dedication to global fairness” (see EUROPE 12669/32). The winners were chosen by a grand jury of journalism and development experts. (AN)
