23/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – Thirteen stakeholders from the transport sector, including local and regional authorities, public transport operators, railway companies and passenger organisations, called on the EU, in a joint declaration on Thursday 23 September, to join forces to “change Urban Mobility”. Among other things, the coalition recommends ensuring that the adoption of sustainable urban mobility plans is accelerated, that appropriate funding is made available to support sustainable mobility and that true multi-modal mobility is created. ”The scale and speed of the changes we need require a broad and concerted effort at all levels of government. The European Commission must ensure that Member States fulfil their obligations and support their local authorities in delivering sustainable urban mobility”, the signatories underlined. (TM)
