17/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – The latest report from the trade body ACI Europe, published on Friday 17 September, shows that passenger traffic in the EU and the UK was 49.3% lower in July 2021 than in July 2019, the pre-pandemic reference period. For the month of August, a decrease of 43% was recorded. Nevertheless, 133.4 million passengers travelled through the European airport network in July, compared to 57.4 million in the same period in 2020. “We cannot talk about a recovery. Now that the summer holiday season is over, passenger traffic is no longer improving in many markets. In fact, it is levelling off or even falling again, as business travellers are not there to take over from holidaymakers ,” commentedACI Europe’s managing director, Olivier Jankovec. (TM)
