06/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 3 September, the European Space Agency (ESA) reported on the resolution adopted in mid-August by the Agency’s Council on the exploitation of European launchers (see EUROPE 12779/20). Member States agreed on a European institutional launch volume of four Ariane 6 vehicles (three Ariane 62 and one Ariane 64, or two Ariane 64) and two Vega-C per year on average, with the possibility of adding institutional orders. “The price conditions (...) have also been validated”, it says. In addition, the ESA Council also requested the ESA Director General to agree with the EU on a European “flight ticket” initiative to regularly validate in orbit missions of less than 200 kg. ESA Member States have also tasked ESA with proposing the next generation of European space transportation solutions for the next ESA Ministerial meeting in 2022. (PH)
