06/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 6 September, the European Commission approved an allocation of €175 million from the Cohesion Fund to invest in the modernisation and installation of drinking water infrastructure in Olt County, Romania. This investment will enable Romania to meet the requirements of the EU Drinking Water Directive. Improvements will be made to wastewater treatment plants and sewage treatment plants. The sewerage network will be extended by 259.08 km and the works will rehabilitate 37.87 km of the existing system. At the same time, an additional 64.41 km of sewage pipes will be laid and ten wastewater pumping stations will be renovated, while 156 new ones will be built. (PH)
