30/08/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Sunday 29 August, the spokesperson for the European External Action Service welcomed the Conference for Cooperation and Partnership held in Baghdad the day before. He said it was “an important step in efforts to support Iraq’s sovereignty and stability and promote de-escalation, dialogue and regional solutions to problems in the Gulf”. In a statement, the spokesperson commended the Iraqi government for making the event possible, saying it showed “the crucial bridge-building role the country can play in the region”. “The EU wholeheartedly welcomes these efforts, which it stands ready to continue supporting,” he added. According to the spokesperson, the conference shows the way forward for the region, based on partnership and cooperation, and is an opportunity not to be missed.
