24/08/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 2 August, the institution said that four calls for projects relating to the media industry have been launched by the European Commission since June. The first call, worth EUR 1.76 million, will benefit media sectors that agree to share content related to EU affairs with each other. The second call, worth EUR 2.2 million, will support a network of radio stations dealing with European news. The other two calls, worth EUR 2 million and EUR 5.98 million respectively, will fund the launch of information projects for young Europeans and media platforms offering content in several languages across the EU. “We are increasing and diversifying our sources of funding. [...] We expect Member States to do the same, while fully respecting the independence of the media,” said Commission Vice-President Věra Jourová in a statement. (AC)
