EU demand for fully electric vehicles triples between 2020 and 2021

27/07/2021 (Agence Europe)The demand for fully electric vehicles has tripled in 2021 in the EU. This is at least what emerges from a report by the financial analysis company Finbold published on Monday 26 July. In detail, the demand for this type of vehicle jumped by 231.58% between the second quarter of 2020 and the second quarter of 2021. Hybrids are not to be outdone, as demand has also exploded, peaking at 213.54% over the same period. For plug-in hybrids, demand increased by 255%, while natural gas vehicles saw a 41.84% increase in demand. Finally, the report finds that these figures are largely attributable to the actions and incentives implemented by governments in the fight against climate change.
