EDPB Committee urges Irish authority to investigate WhatsApp’s new data privacy policy

15/07/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) on Thursday 15 July adopted a decision to compel the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) to investigate changes to the terms of use of the messaging application WhatsApp. The EDPB had been referred by the competent German authority, which had decided, citing an urgent situation, to prohibit Facebook, the parent company of WhatsApp, from using the data collected by its application.
