Brussels, 25/06/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 25 June, the European Commission approved the modification of two operational programmes of the European Social Fund (ESF) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), under REACT-EU, for a total amount of around €93 million. Under the ESF, €37 million will be put towards training for disadvantaged young people, in order to support ‘start-ups’ in the medical and health care sectors, and to help the homeless. As regards the ERFD, €55.6 million will be allocated to SMEs and ‘start-ups’ in the field of information and communication, and in the media and creative industries. Further support will be provided for energy efficiency and energy saving measures. The European Commission says that commissioners Nicolas Schmit (Jobs and Social Rights) and Elisa Ferreira (Cohesion and Reforms) were in Berlin today, to make the announcement. (PH)
