22/06/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 22 June, the European Commission announced that it would order, on behalf of the EU-27, an additional 150 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine developed by the US pharmaceutical company Moderna. The second contract concluded between Moderna and the European Commission gave the latter the possibility of requesting the delivery of these additional doses for 2022 (see EUROPE 12608/27). The contract also provides the possibility of purchasing vaccines adapted to variations in the virus and vaccines for paediatric use and booster vaccines, the Commission said in a press release. The contract also guarantees timely delivery and the possibility to adapt this delivery to the needs of the Member States, depending on the epidemiological situation in each one. (AC)
