08/06/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission is inviting citizens to give their views on a draft implementing measure regarding the rules for the collection of data pertaining to vehicle checks from Tuesday 8 June, for a period of 4 weeks. The current regulation (2018/858) includes strict market surveillance obligations for EU Member States. It also allows the European Commission and third parties to carry out checks on vehicles. These obligations must ensure that the vehicles and their equipment are not harmful to health, safety or the environment. They also define, inter alia, what data manufacturers have to provide, the methodology for selecting vehicles and carrying out tests, and the obligations that are imposed on third parties.
