08/06/2021 (Agence Europe) – During a debate in the European Parliament on Tuesday, 8 June, before the vote to confirm the agreement reached with the EU Council on 20 May (see EUROPE 12723/1), Commissioner Didier Reynders stated that more than one million EU citizens have already received their EU Covid certificate, which enables them to travel within the EU more easily. To date, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Poland, Lithuania, and Spain have started issuing these certificates that prove the bearer has been vaccinated, had a negative Covid-19 test, or recovered from Covid-19. The regulation will officially enter into force on 1 July, but several countries have requested a six-week transition period to be fully ready. The European Parliament was expected to approve the certificate by the end of the day on 8 June, but the results will be formalised on 9 June. (SP)
