26/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – The Member States’ ambassadors to the European Union (Coreper) approved without debate on Wednesday 26 May the proposal for an EU Council Regulation establishing a European Instrument for International Nuclear Safety Cooperation supplementing the Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument and repealing Euratom Regulation No 237/2014. This instrument is intended to contribute to the promotion of transparency in the decision-making processes of third-country authorities in the nuclear field for a period of seven years, i.e. the duration of the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027 established by Council Regulation (EU, Euratom) 2020/2093. The proposed regulation is expected to be finally adopted, without debate, at the next meeting of Member States’ Internal Market and Industry Ministers (Competitiveness Council) on 27-28 May.
