25/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – MEPs on the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties validated the agreement reached on 22 May with the EU Council on the EU digital Covid certificate by 52 votes to 13 with 3 abstentions. They adopted the same arrangement by 53 votes to 10 with 5 abstentions on the part of third-country nationals who will be able to apply for this certificate or present their certificate (see EUROPE 12724/6). The EU digital Covid certificate will be issued by national authorities and will be available in digital and paper formats. Its function will be to facilitate the return to free movement in the EU. The text will be voted on at the plenary session from 7-10 June. It will then have to be approved by the EU Council and published in the Official Journal of the EU.
