IEA warns of risk of insufficient supply of minerals essential for energy transition

05/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – A new report from the International Energy Agency (IEA) published on Wednesday 5 May shows a “looming mismatch” between countries’ enhanced climate ambitions and the availability of the minerals essential to achieving those ambitions. Indeed, the mineral requirements of a renewable energy system are “profoundly different” from those of a fossil fuel system, the IEA points out.
