Employers’ associations call on institutions to review legal basis of minimum wage directive

05/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – Despite the note from the Legal Service of the EU Council (see EUROPE B12675A13), several European employers’ organisations (Ceement, CoESS, EBF, ECEG, EFCI, EuroCommerce, FIEC, Geopa, Hotrec, WEC Europe) launched an appeal on Wednesday 5 May strongly criticising the legal basis of the minimum wage directive. They fear that the directive will undermine the autonomy of the social partners and social dialogue and encourage a top-down approach to wage setting....
