14/04/2021 (Agence Europe) – High Representative of the Union, Josep Borrell, and US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, expressed on Tuesday 13 April their “deep concern about the ongoing significant build-up of Russian military forces on Ukraine’s borders and in Crimea”, according to a statement by the European External Action Service (EEAS). In a telephone conversation, they also agreed to continue to work together in the stabilisation of Afghanistan, while the US aims for a full withdrawal from the country by 11 September. Mr Borrell and Mr Blinken also discussed the situation in Iran and the state of play of the ongoing discussions for the full implementation of the nuclear agreement and the Ethiopian crisis. Finally, they agreed to continue to work together, especially on these “foreign and security policy priorities and challenges”. (CG)
