EU RESPONSE TO COVID-19 / Regions

Baltic regions ask for better consideration of territorial specificities regarding recovery plan

08/04/2021 (Agence Europe)On Wednesday 7 April, the Baltic Sea Commission of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) adopted a document setting out five main requests to Member States as part of the preparation of national recovery plans to make the most of territorial assets. In particular, it calls for the inclusion of regional authorities in the preparation of these plans and for a cross-border approach based on already mature projects. It also calls for avoiding competition between EU funds and the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). Recently, the Cohesion Alliance has also called for the regional level to be better taken into account in the post-Covid-19 recovery process (see EUROPE 12685/11). (PH)
