07/04/2021 (Agence Europe) – SMEunited, which represents SMEs at the European level, welcomed the European Commission's proposals for the Digital Services Act (DSA) in a position paper published on Wednesday 7 April regarding a European Commission public consultation. The proposal (see EUROPE 12623/1) is “a step in the right direction”, according to the organisation, to address the challenges faced by SMEs in the Digital Single Market (DSM). SMEunited supports a tailor-made approach, as proposed by the institution, with a derogation for micro and small enterprises. It supports the inclusion of non-Member State providers, the notification and action mechanism and the “Know Your Business Customer” principle to combat illegal content in online services and better protect consumers and businesses.
