07/04/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Court of Human Rights published, yesterday, on its website, the statement of facts and questions communicated to the Swiss government on 25 March in the context of the application filed last November by the association “Les aînées pour la protection du climat” (Association of Climate Seniors). Like the petition filed by six young Portuguese men against 33 Council of Europe Member States, which was the subject of Questions to the Parties in November, the petition filed by Swiss pensioners calls for stronger measures to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. The Court has prioritised it and is awaiting responses from the Swiss government by mid-July. This Questions to the Parties stage marks the beginning of the procedure before the Court, but does not prejudge the Court’s decision. (VL)
