24/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 24 March, the Bloom organisation revealed that the association, LIFE (Low Impact Fishers of Europe), and 36 French, Belgian, British and Dutch fishermen are requesting, via a complaint (https://bit.ly/3d4dS7U ) (in French) addressed to the European Commission’s competition department, the reimbursement of public subsidies that financed the development of electric fishing. For Bloom, “the Netherlands is desperately trying to legalise electrofishing”. The Court of Justice of the EU, which had been seized by the Dutch government, will give its judgment on 15 April on whether or not to annul the regulation on the ban on electric fishing. (LC)
