24/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 26 March, the EU Council will adopt the legislative acts on the new agreement between the European Union and Greenland (see EUROPE 12659/15). The Committee of Permanent Representatives of the Member States to the EU (Coreper) decided, on Wednesday 24 March, to use a written procedure for the adoption of these texts, which expires on Friday. The new agreement covers the period 2021-2026. The species covered include cod, redfish, Greenland halibut and mackerel (zero tonnes for the moment). Twelve EU vessels are involved. The annual financial compensation from the EU will be €16.5 million, of which €2.9 million will support Greenland’s fisheries policy. Link to the text: https://bit.ly/2QwfKyF (LC)
