26/02/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 26 February, the European Commission proposed to grant €230 million to Estonia under the SURE instrument to support national short-time working schemes during the Covid-19 pandemic (see EUROPE 12488/5). Once accepted, this proposal will support the mobilisation of the instrument for €90.6 billion (€53.5 billion has already been disbursed) for nineteen Member States. Less than €10 billion, therefore, remains available. The European Commission points out in its press release that the Member States can still formally submit new or additional applications in response to the second wave of Covid-19. (MB)
