26/02/2021 (Agence Europe) – The Council of the European Union formally asked the European Parliament on Friday 26 February to approve its decision on the conclusion of the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement and the Security of Information Agreement. Once the European Parliament has given its approval and the 24 language versions of the agreements have been established as authentic and definitive, the EU Council will be able to adopt the decision on the conclusion of the agreements, allowing them to enter into force formally. At the request of the EU, the EU/UK Partnership Council decided on Tuesday 23 February to extend the provisional application of the bilateral agreement until 30 April 2021 in order to allow sufficient time to finalise the legislative texts (see EUROPE 12664/4).
