Brussels, 25/02/2021 (Agence Europe) – On the eve of the seventh anniversary of the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by Russia, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, reiterated, on Thursday 25 February, the EU’s non-recognition of the annexation and its condemnation of this “violation of international law”. In a statement on behalf of the EU, Mr Borrell reiterated the EU’s determination to fully implement its policy of non-recognition, including through restrictive measures and cooperation in international fora. He also denounced the increasing militarisation of the peninsula by Russia, the construction of the Kerch Bridge and the deterioration of the human rights situation in the Crimea.
