On Wednesday 24 February, the European Commission proposed to extend the abolition of roaming charges between EU countries for another 10 years, a measure that has been in force since June 2017, but is due to end on 30 June 2022.
“The current regulation will expire next year. Our proposal will allow travellers in the European Union to continue to make calls, send text messages and use data at no extra cost”, explained Vice-President Frans Timmermans to the press.
