140 scientists call for end to caged farming

24/02/2021 (Agence Europe) – The NGO Compassion in World Farming EU reports that, on 23 February, 140 scientists, who support the ‘End the Cage Age’ European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI), called on the European Commission to ban cages for pullets, laying hens, rabbits and ducks. The scientists also call for a ban on farrowing crates for sows and individual calf pens. They argue that viable alternatives exist.
