Signing of voluntary partnership agreement on timber exports to EU

24/02/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 23 February, Honduras and the EU signed a Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) on forest management and trade in timber. The aim of it is to ensure the legality of the sawn wood that is to be exported from Honduras. It will enable the country to issue FLEGT (Forest Law Enforcement Governance and Trade) licences, guaranteeing that the timber has been harvested, processed and exported in accordance with Honduran legislation.
