15/02/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Public Prosecutor’s Office and Eurojust have signed a working agreement laying the foundations for their future cooperation, the two bodies announced in a press release on Monday 15 February. The agreement sets out the practical arrangements for the exchange of information between the two parties as well as for Eurojust’s support to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office for requests for judicial cooperation and decisions involving Member States not participating in the creation of a European Public Prosecutor’s Office. Within the framework of this agreement, particular attention has been paid to data protection, the two bodies state. “Our partnership with Eurojust will increase the firepower of law enforcement authorities against the most complex cross-border criminality”, said Laura Kövesi, European Chief Prosecutor of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office. A similar working agreement was also concluded between the European Public Prosecutor’s Office and Europol at the end of January (see EUROPE 12641/35). See the agreement: https://bit.ly/3rWuxjK (MF)
