01/02/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European police cooperation agency Europol warned Member States on Monday 1 February against the fraudulent use of negative test certificates for the Covid-19, particularly in connection with travel restrictions. Europol has activated an early warning notification for this purpose. Several cases of the sale of false certificates to travellers have already been reported. A counterfeiting ring selling negative test results to passengers was dismantled at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris. In the UK, fraudsters have been caught selling fake Covid-19 documents for £100. And, in December 2020, a fraudster was apprehended by the Spanish national police for selling false test results for €40. Europol encourages Member States to share with it all relevant information on these false documents. Link to the alert: http://bit.ly/2MeLVB9 (SP)
