01/02/2021 (Agence Europe) – Frédéric Bierry, President of the Collectivité européenne d'Alsace (an entity created last January) wrote to the President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli, on 28 January, at the end of the ‘hybrid plenary’ organised by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe last week. A third of the members of the Parliamentary Assembly (about a hundred out of the 324 incumbents) sat in person under strict health protocol, while the others were able to intervene and vote electronically. “ Why can’t the European Parliament do likewise?”, asked Frédéric Bierry, who underlined the successful holding of this session where the President of the Assembly had been elected. On 20 January, he had travelled to Brussels to discuss the Strasbourg seat of the European Parliament with the Secretary General of the institution, Klaus Welle. He said he was satisfied with the welcome he received. (VL)
