27/01/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 27 January, the ambassadors of the Member States to the European Union (Coreper) approved the negotiating mandate of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the EU for the third session of interinstitutional negotiations (‘trilogues’) on the ‘Climate Law’. This mandate is based on a Presidency document, previously detailed in our articles (see EUROPE 12643/13), presenting possibilities for compromise with the European Parliament. According to our sources, the ambassadors welcomed the document presented by Lisbon and made only minor changes. The third trilogue on the ‘Climate Law’ will be held on 2 February, with the final aim of reaching an agreement between the co-legislators under the Portuguese Presidency. (DG)
