07/12/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 7 December, the European Union extended the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM Georgia) until 14 December 2022. Its current mandate runs until 14 December 2020. According to the legal acts of the decision published on 7 December, this mission will benefit from a budget of €44,823,402.79 for the period from 15 December 2020 to 14 December 2022. This unarmed civilian mission contributes to stabilisation, normalisation and confidence-building between the parties to the conflict between Russia and Georgia. It provides civilian oversight of the actions of the parties, including compliance with the agreement of 12 August 2008 and its implementing measures of 8 September 2008, and has been deployed since October 2008.
