Clarification of Hubertus Heil’s comments on EU Council’s legal opinion on minimum wages

04/12/2020 (Agence Europe) – Due to a misinterpretation in French, the words of the German Federal Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Hubertus Heil, on Thursday 3 December at the end of the Employment and Social Policy Council (EPSCO), were misunderstood by EUROPE in the bulletin dated 4 December (see EUROPE 12615/4). For example, the Minister did not say that the opinion of the EU Council Legal Service on the legal basis of the Minimum Wage Directive had already been forwarded to the delegations, but that it would be made available to the Member States.
