09/11/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 9 November, the European Market Observatory for Fisheries and Aquaculture Products published the 2020 EU Fish Market Report (https://bit.ly/3nkq3kL ). It shows that in 2019, consumer prices for fishery and aquaculture products was 14% higher than eight years earlier. From 2018 to 2019, household expenditure on these products increased in all Member States. In 2019, imports and exports of products between the EU and the rest of the world amounted to 8.55 million tonnes (worth 33 billion euros), which made the EU the second largest trader of these products after China. As a net importer, the EU recorded a deficit of 21 billion euros in 2019, which was slightly higher than the previous year (the deficit has increased in real terms by 33% since 2010). (LC)
