European Parliament gives green light to use of European Globalisation Adjustment Fund for Spain

02/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL) voted by an overwhelming majority (51 votes in favour, 3 against, 1 abstention), on Thursday 1 October, to activate the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) to the tune of €2 million, to help 500 redundant shipyard workers in Galicia back into employment. The EU Council, for its part, is in the process of finalising the written procedure (see EUROPE 12572/34). (PH)
