02/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – The Vice-Chairman of the European Parliament Delegation for relations with the Arabian Peninsula, Marc Tarabella (S&D, Belgium), on Friday 2 October, called on the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission to boycott the G20 meeting on 21-22 November in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). Denouncing, beyond the murder of journalist Jamal Kashoggi, a “theatre of a parody of justice” trial, the MEP calls on the leaders to send officials to the summit. “This is to send a strong signal from our European leaders and to let it be known that fundamental rights are not violated with impunity, that this goes totally against European values and deep respect for rights, human rights and the Rule of Law, fundamental principles that we tirelessly defend”, he said during the commemoration of the second anniversary of the journalist’s death.
