EU Council launches written approval procedure to activate European Globalisation Adjustment Fund for Spain

01/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday, 30 September, Member States’ ambassadors to the EU agreed to launch the written voting procedure in order to activate the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund so as to come to the aid of nearly one thousand workers made redundant in the Spanish shipbuilding sector. The objective is to mobilise €2 million in aid for Galicia (see EUROPE 12558/31). The results are expected to be released on Monday, 5 October. The European Parliament also voted in the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL) on Thursday, 1 October. The results are expected to be known on Friday, 2 October. (PH)
