29/09/2020 (Agence Europe) – The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy stressed on Monday 28 September the EU’s disappointment and concern over the resignation of Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Mustapha Adib on 26 September and the circumstances that led to this decision. “Lebanon’s leaders must unite and do their utmost to form a government in a timely manner that will be able to respond to the legitimate needs and demands of the Lebanese people and will be committed to addressing the acute and multiple challenges facing Lebanon, including the humanitarian, socio-economic and financial crises, the coronavirus pandemic and the reconstruction of Beirut”, he advised in a statement. He reiterated that the rapid formation of a government was also crucial for reaching an agreement with the International Monetary Fund. (CG)
