Ireland to join work on EU travel restriction measures

14/09/2020 (Agence Europe)Quoting Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin, Reuters has reported that Ireland will be taking part in the work being undertaken by member states to coordinate national responses to Covid-19 and create a better framework for travel restrictions within the EU. Martin announced that Ireland would be abandoning its own travel restriction and quarantine system in order to follow the EU system that is currently under preparation and due to be discussed again on 11 September by EU ambassadors in the Committee of Permanent Representatives (Coreper) (see EUROPE 12558/6). According to Reuters, Ryanair asked the Irish government on 11 September to follow the EU's recommendations. (SP)
