11/09/2020 (Agence Europe) – The energy group Engie and ArianeGroup, which is developing the Ariane launchers, announced on Thursday 10 September that they had signed a cooperation agreement in the field of renewable liquid hydrogen to accelerate the decarbonisation of heavy and long-distance transport. Their purpose is twofold, the two groups said in a statement: - to develop and test an optimised liquefaction technology with the development of a hydrogen liquefier at ArianeGroup’s industrial site in Vernon (France) ; - to subsequently develop a range of products and services for the liquid hydrogen line, mainly for marine and river applications. This cooperation could be extended to other transport sectors in the future. This announcement is made within the framework of the European Hydrogen Alliance (see EUROPE 12523/1) and the French Hydrogen Plan (see EUROPE 12555/32). (PH)
